fheroes2 is an open-source, multi-platform project that aims to recreate the Heroes of Might and Magic II (HoMM2) game engine from scratch, with significant improvements in gameplay, graphics, and logic. These improvements include support for high-resolution graphics, improved AI, numerous bug fixes, and user interface enhancements.
